why photographer?
At some point in my life, I became completely entranced by photographs. It wasn't an epiphanic moment, but more of a gradual realization. With the advent of widespread, cheap digital camera technology, my intrigue was allowed to become action. Not having to pay per snapshot gave me the opportunity to practice over and over and over again (a terrible crime, as my brother might put it), slowly learning to control the nuances between good photos and poor photos. For example: on a 7-day trip to Italy, in the early stages of my learning, I took over 2,000 pictures.
At a previous job, years ago, I served as the de facto staff photographer, chronicling many events, occurrences, and animal visitations. I spent a good deal of time taking snapshots of my house and the progress I made during renovation projects. I've spent days walking around Binghamton, New York City, Venice, Canandaigua, Rome and a bunch of other places trying to find just the right shot to sum up a myriad of emotions, moments, and scenes.
In the end, I just love taking pictures.
how much
Price certainly depends on the project. Considerations need to be made for time spent taking photos, editing, delivery of images, and printing. Hourly rate is $100.
I'm pretty much on hiatus from doing headshots, but I make exceptions for really special cases.
